YSL Pure Chromatics (Wet & Dry Eyeshadows)
The YSL Pure Chromatics eyeshadow palette quad 'No. 20' first caught my eye when I was in one of the Sephora's down in NYC. Unbeknownst to me, YSL is not carried in the Sephora in my area, and can only be purchased online. Naturally, I swatched almost all of the Pure Chromatics palettes I could get my hands on and left with this particular one. I splurged on this particular eyeshadow quad because I loved how these shadows are chromatic and can be used as wet or dry. For $55, I was thoroughly impressed with the performane of these eyeshadows. Not only is this packaged in a beautiful gold cased pan, but it comes with 2 additional applicators I found very handy. I normally do not reach for disposable sponge applicators for the eyes, but I found the applicators helped me layer and deposit product evenly amongst my eye lids. It also comes with a plastic applicator shaped like the sponge tip one without the sponges. The other side is a liner that is very thin- tipped, and perfect for lining the inside, outside or corners of the eye. I had never been particularily interested in higher end makeup until I found what products work for me. This was just the beginning of my YSL weakness. There was something about this brand that inticed me and made me want to continue purchasing.

Each of the Yves Saint Laurent colors are a mixture of pigmented shadow that is glittery, and can quickly be transformed into a metallic-chrome pigment with just one spray of water or any mixing medium. (I like using M.A.C.'s Prep+Prime Fix +) When transformed into a pigment for a more intense color payoff, there is minimal fallout from the shadows which I absolutely love. The texture is still powedery and easy to blend as well. The golds in this palette are so beautifully pigmented that with just one swipe, you are getting full color payoff. I love this gold quad because I especially love neutrals and golds. I like to use both shades of gold on the lid and slightly in the crease for a beautiful shine. I then like to use the white color as a higlight color and on the inside corner of the eye, and the brown on the outer v area of my eye and underneath the eyes for some depth as well.
I was absolutely thrilled with the pigmentation of these shadows. The wear time on these shadows also was remarkable. You just can't go wrong with this quad or the quality of the shadows. The glittery and shiny finish stayed put all day and I did not have any creasing of the shadows. It was easily transformed into a creamy pigment but still stayed almost a powdery finish.
While this palette is slightly expensive, it falls nothing less than luxirous, compact and feminine. While I don't normally splurge on high end eyeshadow quads, I can not express how thrilled I am with this particular purchase. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a 2 - in 1 eye shadow quad.
