Lorac PRO Matte Lip Color vs. E.L.F. Studio Matte Lip Color

There's no denying this year's current lip trends have been matte lipsticks, in an easy to use- crayon like packaging that makes it easy to twist up and apply in a breeze. One of the many brands I fell in love with was Lorac. Lorac's Pro Matte Lip Color feels like velvet on your lips and is also infused with antioxidants such as grape seed extract and has a slight vanilla scent. This matte lip pencil's formula is very similar to Lorac's Alter Ego Lipsticks which also have a very soft, matte finish. Matte lipsticks are notoriously drying, and I find that the texture of these pass my "lipstick test" in terms of how forgiving they are on the lips. (No pulling or tugging either!) Normally, before applying any sort of matte lipstick I apply a small amount and thin layer of Lip Balm to hydrate my lips beforehand.

E.L.F Studio Matte Lip Color in "Coral"

Lorac Pro Matte Lip Color in "Nude"

The shade "Nude" is almost completely opaque in one swipe, with two swipes it is opaque and with three the shade deepens a bit and more. I have to admit, this formula does tend to stick to dry patches on the lips and although it gives you alot of wear time, I noticed this does not evenly wear off, especially the lighter colors. I would say you are able to wear these for about 5-6 hours un-interuppted.

Now on to the E.L.F. shade in coral, as I mentioned above one of the perks is the convienent twist- crayon like formula that makes it not only easy to use, but easy to carry around as well. Shortly after applying this, the formula becomes drying and uncomfortable the longer it is worn. This tends to stay on quite well and does not bleed or feather into lines, so I will give it that. If you are a fan of matte lipsticks this is a great, cheaper, alternative to consider. For $3 a pop, it is amoung one of the most comfortable and affortable options out there.
